Happy New Year! The Christmas décor is coming down, making the house feel a bit bare, and in need of a spruce up. Adding green to your home is a great start (think adding new plants and forcing bulbs for fresh blooms), but if you really want something that will make an impact, let’s look at the paint colors for 2024!
Did you know that each paint company makes a prediction as to what colors will be hot and how they will play out in wall color and décor?
Let’s start with Pantone. Everyone loves Pantone colors! They are used in furniture fabrics and professional colors for marketing and website design. Along with fashion, apparel and even make-up.
Peach Fuzz is a stunning and wonderfully warm color. Especially after all the cool colors of gray and steel blue. The gray trend has been strong and very striking in so many ways, but slowly the warmth is returning with wood tones and the introduction of navy blue.
The next question is how to bring this color into your home? The easiest is in pillows or throws that already have cool tones mixed with warm. We see a lot of navy and copper, mixed with greys and taupe. Art is another easy way. Look at adding a grouping of 4 prints that will complement this new color and marry your current style together. If you want to spend just a bit more, look at an accent chair you could add to a corner of a room as a reading nook or switch out a bedroom chair to give your private space a fresh feel. It is so refreshing to add a fresh color in the new year.
Sherwin Williams' color of the year is Upward.
I love how they have mixed in what is a popular existing color pallet to create an easy pathway for decorating and painting your home. Did you notice the soft peach in the center to represent the Peach Fuzz from Pantone? Ingenious! This is a perfect representation of previous color trends, mixed with current and future to create a fresh start for 2024.
The same design ideas we spoke of above, apply here with adding less expensive items to represent the new color. This is so fun and really helps put your look together. I have a bath remodel happening this year, and I think I will use this color in either the tile or the wall color!
And last but never least is Benjamin Moore. I have started to use their colors and their paint on more projects lately and I really like them. I had a client turn me onto them and have found great new colors and paint types to use on projects.
Benjamin Moore’s color of the year is Blue Nova.
These colors are a bit warmer and bolder than Pantone or Sherwin Williams, but still falling in the same palette and check out the 2 versions of Pantone’s Peach Fuzz! Love the warmth in these tones and how to use them not only in décor, but your wardrobe as well.
Be sure to check out your favorite and let me know your ideas either in the comments or on Instagram, @laurareddinteriors. I love hearing from you and what amazing colors you will discover this year!
