Thanksgiving is right around the corner and so are the family and friends that will fill your home. Making your home ready for the holidays does not necessarily have to be a hard thing, it just requires a little planning, a few key touches and you have it covered.
If you’re going to have Thanksgiving in your dining room, let’s look at your chandelier. The chandelier is the center of the room for me. Look for something that represents the style of your room and even the style of your home. I just attended High Point Furniture Market and a multitude of lighting and styles were strongly represented. Here are three styles that were really fresh and fun.
If replacing your chandelier is not an option, maybe spray painting it is. I found a super inexpensive light at goodwill and spray painted it! Changed everything!
Next, let’s look at your table and chairs. Maybe it’s an option for you to add new chair seats in a funky pattern or color. If you are at a place to replace or refresh your furniture, look to add a piece that has some color — like a navy blue or gray ashen finish. Did you know your table and chairs do not have to match? Try an ashen finish on your table and a dark finish on your chairs.
Another aspect to look at, is a new rug with a fresh mix of color or pattern. This change easily lifts a room and gives existing furniture and accessories new life.
Look at adding some fresh new linens for the table, or burlap paired with linen napkins. Mixing opposites is my favorite thing to lift a table setting, furniture or lighting. Mixing your opposites means combining a burlap table runner or placemats with linen napkins, and china plates and crystal glasses. Be creative with your mixing, add your style and personality!
