There are so many things to think about during a kitchen remodel. Cabinets, countertops, sinks, faucets, and more. And of course, there are the all-important appliances.
It’s easiest to want to go back to what we know, like an electric range or cook top, maybe a small change to wall ovens. If you are going through all the time, effort, and expense to create an amazing new kitchen, make sure you take the time to explore the options of new appliances.
We will explore all the types of appliances in future blogs, but for now, let’s start with general ideas and get more specific later.
There are three major kitchen appliances. The range/cooktop, the refrigerator, and the dishwasher. Then we have the microwave and coffee machines.
There are a few things to explore as you begin this journey.
1. Do you cook only because you have to? Or do you consider it a hobby? Are you a home chef? These interests will help decide what is important in your kitchen.
2. Do you like to entertain? If you like to have people gather, an island may be important in having a crowd of people in your kitchen. It allows for serving, seating, or even just a location for people to set their food and drinks as they explore the rest of your space.
3. Do you prefer quiet evenings at home trying new recipes? Is there one person you always like to cook for?
No matter your kitchen’s purpose, there are many factors to consider while picking out your appliances.
Another thing to take into consideration is the size of your family and where you are in life. When my girls where little, we needed a very different kitchen than I have now. A big family usually means you need a big refrigerator and oven. You may even need a double oven! We used to have sleepovers, watch movies, bake cookies, and have 12 girls taking over our home! Such fun memories that I will treasure forever.
Take the time to look at the options, look at how you will use your kitchen, and let’s create a beautiful space that makes all your dreams come true.
Please check in next week, as we are going to explore ranges and slide-ins, cooktops, and induction cooking.
