New living room, new you

When you make a move to a new home, it can be difficult to get your new furniture to “fit” into a new space, because it was bought to fit into a different space.

The options for new and repurposed furniture make it really easy to find what you need for your new home. In our area, we have several great consignment shops like Red Collection and Shops on Patterson (to name a few) to market sample outlets like Furnishings 411 in Hight Point, and the outlet at Furnitureland South. A side note on this place and others like it, if you get easily overwhelmed, you may want to bring someone with you to help navigate.

When it comes to family rooms, the “feet up” feeling is very strong and comfort is king. Generally, we’re looking for a sofa with an ottoman or chaise in fabrics that are comfortable, durable and pet/kid friendly.

Using a Sunbrella, Crypton, or contract fabric will give you the durability for kids and spills, with the comfort of a chenille or microfiber. Which basically guarantees easy living. A designer may have to help you find this level of fabric, but it’s well worth the cost to have a durable fabric on your furniture.
