Spring. The new air conditioner awareness month

We just finished up 4 weeks of planning your outdoor living space, from the structure to the furniture to the finishings, if you missed it, please check it out!

But now it’s time to do what I call “ugly design”, which is all the behind-the-scenes, nitty gritty maintenance to your home. Warm weather is right around the corner, and that means it’s time to have your air conditioning system checked. I know this isn’t the fun design to spend money and time on, but if you take care of your major systems they will take care of you.

Before temperatures start reaching the 90s, call your HVAC company and get on their list for maintenance. It’s nearly impossible to get an HVAC person to make a visit once summer sets in. If you go ahead and make a habit of scheduling an appointment every spring, you can extend the life of your system by as much as 10 years and save money on your energy bills in the process.

Here are 7 reasons to do a spring check-up on your AC system:

  1. A springtime tune up will give your system a head start

  2. Regular maintenance is almost always less expensive

  3. Neglecting you system can void your warranty. This doesn’t apply if you have an older system

  4. A well-maintained system lasts longer

  5. A tune-up can increase efficiency and decrease energy costs

  6. Regular maintenance is recommended by the EPA, Energy Star and USDE

  7. You will get faster service when scheduling your maintenance in the spring

Tune ups can’t stop all AC problems from happening, but regular maintenance can prevent 50% of cooling problems. The technician can detect small problems and fix them before they become big problems.

Let's be honest, this one is a goner...

This is, ideally, how your air conditioning system should look. See the difference?
